Go see "The Incredibles". It is worth the price of admission. The themes of family, identity, and heroism are well done.

As of Reformation Day I am now officially an elder in the Presbyterian Church in America. This is a large responsiblity and a great honor for me to have the congregation New Life Presbyterian here in Ithaca elect me and Christian Anible. Did you know that the Greek word translated to elder is "Presbyter"?

Well, Camille and the kids are off in Rhode Island this week. That means I have to squelch my loneliness with late nights of coding and video games. If anyone wants to invite me to dinner just give me a call.

USCM has somewhat contracted me to make some upgrades to their "Conference Registration System". I created the "Event Server" my last year there and it has grown a lot since then. It is a fun project to work on.

Ok. Back to coding...

Hurray! I have my laptop back from being repaired by AQS Tech. They charged a fraction of what Sony was charging and got me the machine back in under 2 days. They obviously know their stuff. So, if your Sony laptop spazzes out on you you might want to check them out. Now I can get back to work...

Well, my laptop is dying. I urge all sensible people out there to never purchase a Sony laptop unless you pay for the extra 3 year service plan. I really like this GRX550. Linux runs great on it. Unfortunately it has some design flaws that are common to many Sony laptops. Sony refuses to do anything about it even though they have known about the issue for a while and many people have the same problem have the same problem. Time to send it to a repair store (other than Sony) to hopefully extend the life another year.
As a result of all this, I have backed-up my data and am not sure when I will next update this blog or the photos. The machine gets shipped off tomorrow. Hopefully it will be back sometime next week.

I found the MagpieRSS rss/atom parser and have now integrated it into this website. So I can post to my blogspot and have it show up here. Unfortunately it seems that some of the entries have font tags automatically embedded. I'll have to strip them out at some point.

I have finished converting my home website! Check it out Drakos7.net! The gallery is live also but I am still moving my old pictures to it. Now just to figure out how to pipe this blog to my site!

I am in the process of converting my photoachive over to the Gallery system. I am sticking with v1.4 instead of trying out gallery2 because they have not stabilized the database structure yet. Most of the transfer will be done tonight. Hopefully I will "open" the new photoarchive tomorrow. I still need to come up with a good personalized graphical theme for it, but I think the existing one works well for now. Have a look at my main website to see if it is up yet.

Well, it has been a while (as usual). Just got back from a fun wedding in MD. Raegan got married to Michael. It was fun to see Heather Phillips, Cecily Fitzpatrick, and Janice Flint again, not to mention Raegan and her parents. Anne and Andrew did great for the wedding. They just did so so on the car ride though.
I am a believer in priceline.com now. We got hotel rates 40% of the advertised price. We would not have been able to make it to the wedding otherwise.
End of Line.

So, here I sit in front of my computer. But my computer is in North Carolina. Have to visit NCState to work with collaborators on an evolutionary genomics of rice project. Everyone is really nice and I think it will be fun working with them. The data is not overly complex (thankfully).

But, sigh, it is a bummer to be away from Camille and the kids for essentially 4 days. What new words has Anne learned today? Has Andrew rolled over onto his tummy yet? I do not know. Sigh.

Well, I finished gai-bgswitcher-0.3 today. It needs the latest gai libraries. I have added an optional button row and the ability to pause the rotations. I'll probably post it to the appropriate locations in a couple days.

Now I have to get working on my computer science project!

This GAIM plugin is really nice. Makes things a lot easier. Anyway...
Today is day 3 of Camille and the kids being gone. It is too quiet. Amazingly enough I can survive. She left me some food frozen in the freezer. I just finished cooking up some samosas. They are pretty good. I did not make an authentic sauce for them though. Dinosaur BBQ sauce is pretty good though!
I am scheduled to fly down to NC State to help with some work. My lab is part of a numerous multi-universe research programs. On Friday I found great tickets from my home airport down and back. But, because of poor communication, it looks like the ideal plane tickets for $226 are gone. I am now within the 2 weeks before the flight and the cost jumped to $600+. In order to get tix under $300, I will have to get a ride to a different airport over 1hr away. Really lame. The shuttle to the Syracuse airport is $88 round trip. I should just start up my own shuttle service and charge $50. Anyway, if found tix out of Corning for $213. The times are not ideal, and I'll have to find someone to drop me off and pick me up.
Gai 0.5.3 was released this weekend. Time to make gai-bgswitcher-0.3!

Ok, so I added the gaim-blogger patch to my system so maybe I will blog occasionally. Do not get your hopes up.

20040402

Yes, that is right! I do not BLOG! Why did you come here? Did you think you could find something interesting? Well, you will not. Now go do something more productive. And don't come back again, hear me?

End of Line
